Safety technologies are advancing like crazy these days and, when it comes to our favorite Japanese automaker, the future is brighter than ever before. Honda filed for two patents recently and, if you ask us, the technology being used is truly impressive.

To help keep pedestrians safe, the first patent makes use of an augmented reality heads-up display (also called a HUD) to let you see more people around your vehicle. Specifically, it shows you multiple pedestrians in all directions around your vehicle, including your blind spots and even people obstructed behind objects, so you'll be ultra-prepared for any stop you may need to make.

Along the same lines, the second patent is for vehicle communication. The HUD would allow you to see up to two vehicles in front of you and monitor their speed. If they make a sudden stop, you'll be all the more prepared to stop as well to prevent any potential accident. Those cars behind you will thank you.

We're waiting for more details to arise about this tech and the new Honda models they'll be used on, so stay tuned in to our blog for more in the future.
